Rugged mountains, deep river valleys, boulder-strewn slopes and semi-desert plains merge in the northwestern corner of Namibia to create a wild and unspoiled wilderness, the Kaokoveld. This remote area is home to the Himba who follow the same way of life as they have done for centuries. Here, too, you will find the famous desert dwelling elephants, along with black rhino, giraffe, gemsbok, springbok, kudu and even lion.
Land of Contrasts (Etosha, Kaokoland, Damaraland, Swakopmund, Sossusvlei)
The bedrock of Namibia’s tourism industry is an awesome array of natural assets. There are the hauntingly beautiful landscapes of the Skeleton Coast and Namib-Naukluft Park, the latter including the renowned Sossusvlei with its monumental mountains of sand. There is the equally famous Etosha National Park, where you’ll view rare and endangered species such as black rhino, cheetah and black-faced impala against the unique backdrop of the Etosha Pan.
Apart from the well known attractions this itinerary also includes unique off-the-beaten-track experiences in Namibia’s Kaokoland and Damaraland regions...beautiful and remote...

The Sandveld is home to the San, hunter-gatherers which were probably the first inhabitants of Namibia. Then there’s the Khaudum National Park, an unfenced wilderness area bordering Botswana and home to several big game species and a multitude of birds. Predators include lion, leopard, spotted hyaena, African wild-dog and jackal. The Khaudum is also the stronghold of Namibia’s roan antelope population. Large waterholes and pleasant evenings around the campfire will be remembered long after the dust has settled.
The sand of Bushmanland then gives way to marshlands, swamps, waterways and spectacular rivers as we spend some time on the banks of the Okavango River. Continuing further east we visit a variety of game parks while crossing numerous, streams, rivers and swamps. Expect exceptional birding, spectacular sunsets and a large variety of game. There will even be time for fishing on the Okavango-, Kwando Rivers. On our way back we visit the Etosha National Park before concluding a memorable experience with dinner at Windhoek’s famous Joe’s Beerhouse…

Where Men and Mountains Meet - Kaokoland, Damaraland and the Coast
Namibia, named after the harsh an inhospitable desert which lies along its west coast, is also bounded in the east by the Kalahari desert, the country’s very name conjures up visions of sand dunes, gravel plains and endless space. Damaraland, on the other hand, is a scenic wilderness area of red basalt rock, spectacular sandstone mountains and interesting geological formations laid bare by time. Damaraland is home to some of the oldest rock engravings in the world while her dry riverbeds provide a sanctuary for a variety of plains game, elephants and black rhinos.
Apart from the breathtaking scenery of Damaraland, we’ll also visit the Etosha National Park and the coastal town of Swakopmund.
